Environmental consulting firms

Molecular analysis integrated into your study.

MetaGen can act as a technical partner to the consulting firm, connecting sampling design, analysis and interpretation with the questions and deliverables of the environmental study.

01 / THE CHALLENGE

Incorporate new evidence without losing context.

Molecular information needs to have a clear role in the client deliverable. Defining the study question together helps establish what will be investigated and how the results will connect with the other components of the study.

The consulting firm retains responsibility for leading and integrating the environmental study. MetaGen's technical role is discussed within that scope, in collaboration with the responsible team.

02 / BEFORE FIELDWORK

Align procedures before sampling.

Sample types, groups of interest, sampling locations, replicates and the sampling schedule should be discussed before collection. Sample quality and preservation determine what can be done in the subsequent work.

When applicable, sampling kits and procedures can be aligned with the defined protocol. Materials, sample identification, preservation, transport and responsibilities need to be agreed upon; a universal kit suitable for every study is not assumed.

03 / ANALYTICAL INTEGRATION

From samples to information usable in the report.

Molecular analysis and bioinformatics should produce information that can be interpreted in relation to the agreed study question. Deliverable formats, required records and analytical criteria need to be defined together.

Results from environmental samples or individual biological material can contribute in different ways. The choice depends on the evidence the consulting firm needs to integrate into the report.

04 / PLANNING AND INTERPRETATION

Make the scope of the deliverable explicit.

Quality controls, traceability and field records help assess the quality of results. Taxonomic resolution also depends on the markers and available references.

Integration into the report should preserve limitations and uncertainties. Molecular analysis does not automatically replace conventional surveys or, on its own, ensure that all study requirements are met.

05 / METAGEN SUPPORT

A technical point of contact for your team.

The discussion can support study design, processing and interpretation, according to the agreed scope. Aligning delivery milestones and dependencies before fieldwork reduces mismatches between sampling and analysis.

Send us the study question, schedule, planned sample types and groups of interest. These elements guide the initial assessment of the partnership.

TALK TO METAGEN

How can a molecular approach complement your study?

Tell us about the project context, environment and the question you need to answer. An initial conversation helps define the approach and scope.
